The comedic thriller, Employee of the Month (L’employée Du Mois) by Véronique Jadin, is now available on VOD. Watching the film feels like a violent and bloody version of The Office, which is inspiring.
The story follows Inès, a loyal employee of EcoClean company for 17 years, who is desperate for a raise. However, the company is not in a position to increase her pay. Inès is given more work and asked to oversee a new intern, Melody, who is the daughter of the last female employee at EcoClean. When Inès confronts her boss, Patrick, about the raise, he asks for a favor, leading to a compromising situation.
However, Melody interrupts and accidentally kills Patrick with a paperweight. Inès and Melody then dispose of the body, leading to a series of accidental and intentional deaths.
The film satirizes office culture, equality in the workplace, sexual harassment, and women banding together. It addresses women’s issues in the workplace without being bogged down by political hangups.
The humor is dark and twisted, making it appealing to women and audiences in general.
